Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

My first visit to Skagway for nine days on the White Pass & Yukon Railroad taking photos of the cruise ship specials and photos all over the great system. We contacted the railway in advance and we were sold special VIP unlimited ride tickets as we were writing an article about the company for a magazine. Each day we made at least two trips up the hill from Skagway to White Pass summit or Fraser, and also the train to Bennett, at the time of our visit this was the limit of the line (since re-opened to Carcross). Eleven of the GE “Shovel Nose” Alco engined locos were operating along with the 101 class DL535 locos and the massive “wide cab” 114 which we were very keen to see in action. Thankfully for us 114 was pressed into service on one occasion during our visit. I then moved on to travel on the Alaska Railroad
