Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

I flew from Whitehorse via the former gold rush city of Dawson City and Old Crow; both were little more than outpost villages with gravel landing strips. I then started a week in Alaska on the Alaska Railroad, after a day taking photos in Fairbanks with a local railfan I then went south to Anchorage on the “Denali Star”, the premier train of the ARR. I was met at Anchorage by another local railfan and the next day we chased any trains we could with some good inside information and visited the large transport museum at Wasilla. I took the “Coastal Classic” from Anchorage to Seward and then we chased the train back in the car, getting lots of photos on the way. Another day in car chasing next day and I took the “Glacier Discovery” from Portage to Wittier. My last day was another one chasing any trains that were running and then I flew back home
