Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

A five day trip to Germany. We flew to Stuttgart and went directly to the "East" to sample some of the 228 and 232 diesels which were still on many services at the time. The first day started in the Gera area, and then via Leipzig to Magdeburg and a run with a 234 from there to Braunschweig just before the introduction of electric services. I then took a booked 218 to Berlin on a Friday's only train. Next day was into the east via Schweinfurt, Meiningen, Erfurt, Göschwitz and Saalfeld to Nürnberg for the Görlitz 232 diagram on D465 to Görlitz. From there north via Cottbus and Berlin to Neustrelitz to cover Stralsund 242 turns, none out. Then to Leipzig for the Binz overnight to Angermünde and then some 228 turns in Berlin area before returning to Leipzig and D1907 to Hof for the Bad Steben branch and then to Stuttgart for flight home
