Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

A week in USA started with a flight to New York where I went straight into town and picked up northbound train 60 to New London and then the southbound "Night Owl" to Washington DC. I spend most of the day on MARC commuter trains and also saw the DB ICE which was on a period of testing between Washington - New York on scheduled Amtrak trains. I stayed in Martinsburg and was back in Washington early next day and went straight to Alexandria to pick up the northbound "Crescent" with brand new Genesis power on the front. I then took the ICE to New York and then back south to Washington and then northbound "Fast Mail" to New York Penn. I took "Maple Leaf" north via the lovely Hudson line to Albany-Rensselear and then managed two of Amtrak's GP40TC locos on an out and back to trip to Amsterdam. FL9 486 was my power back in to New York Penn and then stayed with friends for the night. Next morning I took the thrice weekly “Cardinal” for the long run to Chicago which was a huge amount of new track. I had a rush hour on METRA services as far as La Grange Road and then back into Chicago for “Broadway Limited” for my return to the east coast. I then had an F40PH from Philadelphia - Washington. I then did the VRE commuters and Genesis power south to Charlottesville for the night. Back north next morning with more GE power on the "Crescent" to Washington, very bowled when the E60 failed and I suddenly saw the big GE power head north as far as Philadelphia! Thankfully I was able to give chase and have them back as far as Baltimore on the southbound working later in the day. It was then to the BWI airport and flight back home
