Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

A three week trip started with a Ryanair flight from Stansted - Budapest where went to Kőbánya-Kispest and spend a few hours on the reintroduced loco hauled services on line 142. Bad late running set in and I didn't get much action. I then made way into Nyugati and walked to Hotel near Keleti. Early start next day and a marathon twelve hour (634 km) run with a MÁV 480 all the way to Craiova for one night. Met up with a few others for the run south to Vidin via the new Danube 2 bridge, the highlight was without a doubt the bridge, total totter otherwise. Once in Sofia many more appeared ready for the PTG "Southern Greece" tour. 07124 took us to Kulata and the A-456 to Thessaloniki, extra add on bit was then to Ghefira via the Axios freight curve. Next day MLW power from Thessaloniki - Volos via Larissa and a stop off at Velestino where we had a special narrow gauge train with a Japanese built diesel shunter on one open carriage! South from Volos - Athina next day, MLW premier power and a photo stop at Gorgopotomas Viaduct! A very short day in Athens next day, only the section to the airport was approved for us but with classic Alco power using A-326 and A-302. Returning back north with a crack of dawn start but it let us take our train using the path of a regular DMU from Lianokladi - Stlyis, great fun taking the locals on our train! Once done we continued to Kalambaka and an afternoon visiting the spectacular Monasteries nearby. Final day of the tour, MLW power back to Kulata and then 07032 for the slow trundle back to Sofia. I then return to Athina via a night in Thessaloniki and then started the ten day narrow gauge tour, sadly only with a Railbus this time as the Alco's and carriages had not moved from last year! Once the tour was finished I flew back home
